First Weekend in June

An exciting series this weekend against the Giants, although the Mets lost two of three. On Sunday, Lastings Milledge hit his first major league homerun in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game. I have been watching him all season long with the Norfolk Tides, and he is a special player. He’s obviously still green, but he plays baseball with a style and enthusiasm that reminds me of Willie Mays. After his homerun on Sunday, he was high-fiving fans in the stands while running to his position in the field.

The minors provide a special link between a player and a fan. You really begin to appreciate their career. Joe over at Dugout Diary by Joe Boesch talks about the minors in his latest post.

Speaking of Norfolk, it was Lima Time again as the Tides dropped their fourth straight game, getting swept by the IL league leading Charlotte Knights. Chase Lambin did extend his ten game hitting streak, though.

Binghamton dropped the final game of their homestand. Catcher Mike DiFelice, back as a Met, picked up an RBI.
